Busy babies, calm room
Once a baby is on the move, a lot of classes get louder and faster to keep up. We go the other way. The Cosy Explorers pairs baby yoga with sensory exploration, giving your baby plenty to do while keeping the room calm enough that nobody gets overwhelmed, including you.
Every session follows the same seven part shape, with the activities inside it changing week to week. Your baby gets the comfort of a familiar rhythm and the interest of something new, which is a much better combination at this age than novelty on its own.
The shape of a session
- Opening ritual. Connecting techniques to gather everyone and settle the room.
- Yoga and movement. Supported stretches and movement for a body that is busy learning to travel.
- Exploration activity. Something to investigate, reach for and get hold of.
- Exploration activity. A second, different one, because attention spans are short and curiosity is not.
- Rhythm and rhyme. Songs and simple music your baby will start to anticipate.
- Calming movement. Slower yoga to bring the energy back down.
- Close connection. A quiet finish together before you head home.
Common questions
My baby is sitting but not crawling yet. Which class?
Either can work at that stage, so it is worth asking. As a rule, if your baby is happiest sitting and watching, The Little Wanderer still suits. If they are shuffling, rolling with purpose or trying to get somewhere, come to us here.
What if my baby just wants to crawl off?
Then they crawl off, and that is completely fine. The room is set up so babies can move freely and come back when something catches their interest. Nobody is expected to sit still.
Can I join once the block has started?
Yes. Booking the full six weeks before the block begins is best. If a block has already started, get in touch. If there is space, I will send you a link to join for the sessions that are left. And no, you do not need to have done an earlier course with us. Plenty of families start here.
What should we bring?
Comfortable clothes for both of you that you can move in, a drink, and a snack for your baby if they are on solids. Everything else is provided.
